Idea Profile

The Just Us Cafés franchise will be a call-to-action for students and young adults across the country to help neighbourhood’s connect, hope, and act for the wellbeing of children and the planet. Not only will the Cafes attract, build, and direct significant social capital, its expertise in community mobilization will create positive and lasting change in the community. I consider the Cafes to be the start of a neighbourhood-based revolution in caring!

In addition to my 30 yrs. of experience in youth work, over 5 million dollars of research has gone into shaping a position at each Café that will manage the local social mission. In lieu of royalty fees paid to a franchisor, each cafe will support this position. The franchisor, “Just Us Coffee Roasters Co-op” has built a highly successful worker-owned businesses based on a firm belief in “people and the planet before profits”.
