Idea Profile

We will be a small bread bakery, based on the CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) model. Customers will purchase monthly shares of bread, rather than a loaf here or there. This way, we will cut down on waste because we will know how many we are baking for. We will support local and organic farms, using local wheat, honey, and milk to bake with. We also want to give free bread baking (and cooking) workshops to the community to teach people that healthy bread is inexpensive and simple to make at home: baking is merely a skill to be learned. Eventually, we hope to legalize clay ovens in the city of Buffalo and open these up for community use--both for educational events and neighborhood parties. It is our aim to bring people together through one of the most basic foods, and to make people start to think about how this very basic daily activity (eating bread) has been taken out of our hands by agribusiness. We will be the people's bakery!
