With one day remaining at the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen (COP15), here is a video presented by Annie Leonard, which explains the Cap & Trade System, the actors involved and the stakes for our planet.
Here in Canada, the Federal government announced that it will cut carbon emissions by a measly 20% below 2006 levels by 2020 (this is equivalent to just 3% below 1990 levels by 2020). Our three most populous provinces (Ontario, Quebec and British Columbia), however, disagree with this Federal goal and have each declared more ambitious targets. In Copenhagen today, and for the next 2 weeks, all countries join an international conference to begin to consider what can be done to reduce global warming and to cope with the inevitable temperature increases. It's also time for everyone to think about what they can do for the planet.
At our Rendez-Vous 09, Nov. 19th, 2009, we ask some attendees what they will do to challenge the world. Here's two short clips, the first in English, the second in French.

Proud to support a CARE project

Challenge Your World is pleased to support CARE Canada with their "Literacy and Livelihoods Empowering Adolescents for Development" (LEAD) project in Cambodia. During our event Rendez-Vous 09 at the Imperial Theatre in Montréal, Challenge Your World raised 17,000 $ for CARE Canada. The goal of the LEAD project is to improve the livelihoods of marginalized and vulnerable adolescents in Koh Kong Province by equipping them with the skills needed in the development process.
The LEAD project puts particular emphasis on empowering girls to take on an increased leadership role in their community. This is done through the Youth Advisory [...]
